Squad 16 operates at Westmont house fire

Thursday, November 26, 2015   Squad 16 was dispatched on the All Hands house fire in Westmont on Thanksgiving night.  The crew of 5 arrived and assisted Westmont firefighters with heavy fire conditions on the first floor of the house.  One resident was transported to the hospital.  No injuries to firefighters.  

     



 

Squad 16 operates at Pennsauken crash

Wednesday, November 25, 2015   Squad 16, BLS 16 were dispatched with Pennsauken units in the area of the PUB on Rt. 130 for a M.V.A.  Upon arrival crews found an overturned car with a telephone pole broke in half.  EMS treated and transported the injured driver.  Crews secured the area until PSEG could secure the power.  

     



 

Collingswood Fire Toy Drive

Wednesday, November 25, 2015   The Fire Department is collecting new, unwrapped toys to be distributed to families in need this Christmas season.  Toys may be dropped off at the firehouse at 20 W. Collings Ave until December 15.  

 

 




   


 

Squad 16 works M.V.A on the highway

Friday, October 16, 2015  Squad 16 and Engine 1132 were dispatched on Rt. 130 at North Park Drive for a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival crews found a car that crashed into the back of a dump truck. No injuries were reported. Crews remained on location to clean the hazards from the highway.

   


 

Dog rescued from sewer drain

Saturday, September 26, 2015  On Saturday Squad 16 and Ladder 16 responded to Belmont Ave in the area of Newton Creek for a dog that was trapped in the storm drain. Crews worked to remove the grate from the street and lower a ladder down to gain access. The dog was lifted and carried up to the street. Police made contact and returned the dog to his owners several blocks away. The dog did not appear to be injured.

     



 

National Night Out

Tuesday, August 4, 2015   The  Police and Fire Departments hosted the annual night out again this year.  Hundreds of residents came out to learn about crime and fire prevention.  

     



 

Squad 16 operates at Pennsauken All Hands Building

Monday, July 13, 2015   A building fire was dispatched in Pennsauken at 7650 Kaighns Ave.  Pennsauken Command reported heavy fire conditions from a warehouse behind the PUB.  Squad 16 (B Platoon) arrived minutes after the Pennsauken Engine and completed the hose lay to the hydrant.  The crew also deployed a back up line and assisted in fire suppression.  The fire was knocked down and placed under control with no injuries to firefighters.

Squad 16 responds to storm damage

Thursday, July 9, 2015   As heavy rain and strong winds swept through town, trees and wires fell on to the street.  Crews were dispatched to the 300 block of W. Browning Road for a tree that fell and split a telephone in half.  Crews arrived to find the transformer laying in the street with wires down.  The area was secured as crews awaited the arrival of PSEG to secure the power.  

     



 

First Light Check

Sunday, July 5, 2015   Squad 16 along with the Camden County Fire Marshal performed the First Light Check the day after the fireworks.  Crews walk the entire lake area to check for shells that did not go off from the Firework show.  Once the area is cleared and deemed safe, the roadway is cleaned and opened to the public. 

     



 

Collingswood Fireworks

Saturday, July 4, 2015   As most of the town gathered in the area of the High School to enjoy the fireworks with their families, your firefighters were working behind the scenes to keep everything safe.  Squad 16, BLS 16 along with Westmont's Engine and Ladder were all in position for emergencies.  Crews secured the area where the fireworks were lit and kept watch on all the houses directly around the launching area for falling debris.
